Fiesta Essentials

Fiesta Essentials: Hand Drawn Poster by B.Nute productions
Cinco de Mayo may be over, but Fiesta season is just beginning! When the weather is warm, there's nothing like a good old fashioned fiesta. The foods, the drinks, the music, and even the games seem to always be crowd pleasers. Whip up a big taco salad or create a burrito bar for your party and don't forget the blender. There's nothing like a cold margarita on a hot afternoon to get things going.

Here is a round up of more fiesta ideas (including free printables):

Enjoy!

Kentucky Derby Essentials

The Essentials: Kentucky Derby - Drawing by B.Nute productions

"And they're off…"

They say it's the fastest 2 minutes in sports. I say it looks like a great party! The Kentucky Derby is coming up this weekend. I've never been, but it's definitely on my bucket list. I love the tradition surrounding the event- the chilled mint juleps in silver mugs, the festive hat decked out with flowers and floating butterflies if you'd like, and the red roses… lots and lots of beautiful blooming red roses.

Of course, there is actually a horse race involved too. A horse race seeped in history filled with skilled jockeys and well bred horses. Don't forget about a little luck. Sometimes it's the underdog who surprises the crowd!

I had a great time creating my "The Essentials: Kentucky Derby" drawing above. It includes all the necessary items for a wonderful Kentucky Derby-- from the mint julep, to the prize trophy. It's a great snapshot of a wonderful tradition that fleets by every year!

Free May 2014 Wallpaper: Fiesta Fun

Free May 2104 Wallpaper: Fiesta Fun by B.Nute productions

The sun is out and things are warming up… May is definitely here! For this month's wallpaper, I thought I'd go bright and festive with a fiesta theme. I just love the look of papel picado - colorful Mexican paper cutouts. As a banner, the vibrant colors float in the air and definitely make me want to celebrate (add a Margarita and I'm set!)

So, here's to warming up this month and celebrating May with a possible fiesta or two!

Free Printable Lil'Pirate Party Circles

Free Printable Lil'Pirate Party Circles from B.Nute productions
I can't believe it's been over 3 years since I posted my free printable Lil'Pirate Party Set including: Little Pirate Party Invitations, Loot Bag and Ahoy banner. I love to hear from readers now and again how they've used the set at one of their parties! Just recently, a reader contacted me and said she was so excited to use my invitation and banner, but would love to have matching circles to use as cupcake toppers.

Well, it sounded like a great idea, so hear they are! These 2" circles can be used as cupcake toppers, or you could use them as stickers as well. I kept some blank too so you can customize as you'd like.

Enjoy me mateys!

Instructions for Making Your Lil'Pirates Party Circles
1. Select link above, and print out the circles on 8.5" x 11" card stock from your browser. I suggest using a heavier card stock to give the toppers some weight. If you'd rather have stickers, print out on an 8.5" x 11" sticker stock.
2. Cut out circles using a 2" circle cutter or by hand.
3. Attach to a lollipop stick and use as cupcake toppers or how ever else you'd like to decorate your party!

Holiday Traditions: The Easter Dress

Holiday Traditions: The Easter Dress by B.Nute productions
I can still remember my daughter's sweet little yellow Easter dress she wore one year when she was a toddler. The bright yellow pressed cotton, the smocking with tiny adorable embroidered flowers on it, and the precious peter pan collar. She looked perfect for a bright Easter morning brunch!

Each year, my mom continued the tradition she started when my daughter was born by getting her an Easter dress to wear. It's always been the same, sweet traditional style I just love, until more recently. Although I couldn't be more proud to watch my daughter grow into a young woman, it's hard to say goodbye to those sweet dresses!

I did tuck a few into a box to save for her when she's a mom. With such a timeless style, perhaps her daughter or daughters could wear one as well. I can only hope she'll keep up the Easter dress tradition. With such a casual lifestyle we lead, it's always fun to get dressed up once and awhile!

Gettin' Crafty: Front Door Collage Art

Create Your Own Front Door Collage Art to Celebrate Your Home
For some reason, on my walk today I started paying attention to everyone's front door. Each house I passed, I mentally analyzed their entryway. Was it welcoming? Was it colorful? What did it potentially say about the family that lived inside?

Once home, my obsession continued. I decided to create a project that would celebrate my very own front door. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. It's the perfect collage to be framed and sit near
