Happy Memorial Day

To me, like many others, Memorial Day is the official kick-off of summer. Although school is not out, this holiday signals that relaxation is up ahead-- lazier mornings, warmer days, and longer evenings.

But, more importantly, this holiday signifies a day to honor those who have died serving our country, a fact that can get lost in the shuffle of BBQ's, Memorial Day sales and the like. I was very happy to have my husband and son head off to a Boy Scout/Cub Scout flag planting ceremony on Saturday morning at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in Colma, CA.
