It's a Fiesta: Invitations and Inspiration

Fiesta Invitations by B.Nute productions on Zazzle
I love a good fiesta.
I love everything about it.
I love the food;
Mexican food is definitely one of my favs.
I love the drinks;
who doesn't love a Margarita and nothing is better than a nice cold Corona.
I love the colors;
turquoise, magenta, red, orange, yellow, the brighter and bolder the better.
I love the decorations;
papel picado banners, mexican pottery, lotteria cards, Mexican cloth,  a pinata and a string of twinkling lights on the patio-- it's all that's needed.
I love the music;
just walk into any taqueria in California and you feel like you've taken a little trip over the border. The music always seems spirited and lively, and puts a smile on my face.

So it's no wonder why my Fiesta invitations are some of my absolute favorites! With the hand designed oilcloth patterns in the background and vintage illustrations, these invites just make you want to party. I've created lots of options in my shop-- mix and match backgrounds and illustrations to find your perfect fit. Head on over to my shop and dust off your blender-- it's Fiesta time!

Free Printable Design Your Own 9 Hole Golf Course

Free Printable Design Your Own 9 Hole Golf Course by B.Nute productions
Growing up, my family was friends with a pretty famous golf course designer. I always thought that would be a very cool job. It's like designing a board game, with challenges, strategy and rules to follow but you get to use real live nature as your board; grass, hills, trees, rocks, water, sand and more. Of course, there's much more involved than just that. Even thinking of figuring out the irrigation system would throw me into a endless sand trap-- so how about a fun coloring page, instead, where I can just pretend to be a golf course designer for a couple minutes.

Whether you are having a golf party, or just need a good doodle page for those long meetings at work when you'd rather be out playing golf -- here's the perfect free printable for you... A Design Your Own 9 Hole Golf Course. The toolbox of golf course features are on the left-- use those symbols and fill up your holes with hazards, obstacles, and of course a green. While your at it, add any other feature you'd like as well.

Free Printable Vintage Golf Menu Cards

Free Printable Vintage Golf Menu Cards from B.Nute productions
I'm loving anything with a vintage golf theme these days. I've just taken up golf myself (I got new clubs at Christmas) and now with the weather warming up, I'm ready to go! I, of course need some appropriate attire. I wish the vintage styling that I see in some everyday fashion was hitting the golf course as well. It's such a classic look and I'm sure wearing it would make me a better golfer, right? (Ha!)

Their "ladies" outings with lunch or cocktails following a game seems like such a great way to spend the day. I'm thinking I should host a ladies golf luncheon myself! If you'd like to have your menu typed on to the menu card, just follow these few steps:
1. Select link above. Go to your browsers File Menu and select "Save As". Save image to your local computer.
2. Open an image editing program, and use the type tool to add your menu items. Create one list, then copy and paste this to the other two. Now print out file, and cut cards.

4. Another option is to first print out the menu card (blank) and cut out each card (they are 3.5x7 in size.) In MS Word, create a narrow 3.5"x7" document. Leave a large margin at the top, and at least .75" margins on left and right. Type menu. Feed printed menu card through your printer and print out the MS Word document on top.
5. Lastly, a hand written menu is an easy option as well! Just select link above, print out on card stock and hand write menu!

Free Printable Nursery Rhyme Scavenger Hunt Game

Nursery Rhyme Scavenger Hunt Game by B.Nute productions
There's nothing like a hunt to keep little ones busy. Here's the perfect printable game for your Nursery Rhyme Party, a Nursery Rhyme scavenger hunt. Hand colored, and designed with sweet vintage illustrations, this game board and cards is the perfect addition to your gathering. Just print out and have start your search!

How to Play the Nursery Rhyme Scavenger Hunt Game
1. Print out the scavenger hunt map cards below. Print one sheet per guest playing the game.
2. Print out the game cards (one sheet per guest.) Cut out the cards.
3. Game set up: Hide the game cards around your party space (yard, inside of house, park or where ever the party is being held.) Hide all "This Little Piggie" cards together (one card for each guest). Continue to hide each card type in a different location. Follow the map to decide which order the cards should be hidden. (For instance, first hide the This Little Piggie cards, then hide the Mary Had a Little Lamb cards, then the Old Woman in the Shoe cards, so that the kids naturally find the cards in order they appear on the path. They can find cards out of order if they'd like too.)
4. Once the cards are hidden, and the guests have arrived and are ready to play the game, hand out the maps to each child. Now, send them off to hunt for the cards!

Nursery Rhyme Party: Game and Entertainment Ideas

Illustration from Sunshine Story Book
Your Nursery Rhyme Party is in full swing... now what can you do with the little ones to keep them entertained? Here are a bunch of Nursery Rhyme Party Game and Entertainment ideas sure to make your party a memorable event.

Nursery Rhyme Party Game Ideas
Dress Ups
Dress ups are always a hit for little ones. Head to the local thrift store and pick up some fun ponchos, colorful shirts, hats, old sunglasses, fun shoes, and more. Keep in mind some nursery rhyme characters (i.e., Jack and Jill, Old King Cole, black crow, piggies, etc.) and see if you can find anything to fit the theme.

Nursery Rhyme “Stations”
Setting up little nursery rhyme “stations” or scenes around your child’s room, family room or party space can be a great way for some creative play. There are no “rules” for this game, just creating some areas with items that the children can play with. Below are some ideas for some nursery rhyme “stations:”
Pat-a-Cake - Set up a small table with some play dough, a few cookie cutter, and a roller for children to play “pat-a-cake.”
Rub-a-Dub-Dub - Set out a large pot or baby’s tub, and put some stuffed animals around. Provide a washcloth and some stuffed animals so the children can pretend to wash the animals.
Piggies - Set up a market with a basket or 2 and loads of pretend food. Have the kids “go to market” and then set out on a blanket for a picnic.

Hide and Seek
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep, help her find them! In a room, hide several stuffed animals (sheep if possible) and have the little ones hunt for them. This game can be repeated several times, and rarely get tiring!

More Nursery Rhyme Game Ideas
The internet can be overwhelming to wade through, but check out this site for some more game ideas at your party: http://www.first-school.ws/theme/nurseryrhymes.htm

Nursery Rhyme Party Entertainment Ideas
Storyteller from the Library
Head to the local library and see if you can hire the children’s Librarian or a storyteller for an hour. Have them use their expertise and pick out some fun nursery rhyme books... or a book or 2 with a similar theme. If a librarian is not available, see if your babysitter or a neighborhood teen will do the job.

Nursery Rhyme Sing-a-long CD or DVD
Head to your favorite CD and/or DVD website and type “nursery rhyme sing a long” into the search box. Many CD’s and some DVD’s come up that will be great entertainment for the kids. Clear some space in your family room or living room, put on the CD and let the kids dance to the tunes.

Nursery Rhyme Charades
This may be more entertaining for the adults than the kids, but either way, it will put a smile on everyone’s face. Put names of nursery rhymes on small pieces of paper, fold up, and place in a hat. Have each family (parent(s)/child) pick a piece of paper. One by one go around the party and act out the rhyme.

Balloon Artist
A balloon artist can be very entertaining for little ones. Check your local Yahoo! listings, or Google to find the artist. Instruct him or her to try to stay in theme and create balloons based on nursery rhymes if he can! If your trying to keep costs down, there are many balloon kits available to buy and give a try yourself. Type in “Balloon Animals Book” in your favorite search engine, and many inexpensive ideas are listed.

Puppet Show
Puppets always delight little ones. Once again, you could look to a local librarian, or perhaps a babysitter to help out with this entertainment idea. Remember, it does not have to be a high-end production to delight a group of little ones! Perhaps as part of the fun, have the little ones decorate a sock with ears and eyes (simply attach construction paper shapes with pieces of masking tape) and have them make their own puppet. Again, staying in the theme, you can offer ideas of characters based on popular nursery rhymes.
