There's nothing like an outdoor adventure! Tying up those hiking boots, filling up your canteen and headed out into the wilderness can be so exhilarating. My son and husband had a handful of camping adventures this summer. Sadly, I didn't make it out on one of them. Now that it's fall, though, and the weather is a bit cooler, I'm craving a little outdoor time!

Drawing these essentials to an outdoor adventure has definitely inspired me. Perhaps if a full blown camping trip doesn't happen for me this fall, I should just head out into the backyard and camp under the stars.

I just love the camp-style look, I couldn't stop at just making a Bear Country sign... I had to add some bear paws to the mix too! Here are some free printable bear paw tags, perfect for a Camping Party, a Going on the Bear Hunt Party, a Teddy Bear party, or for anyone that just likes that cabin look. Poke a hole on the edge and tie it on a hostess gift when heading out the door, or use as tags for a goodie bag at a party. It would look great tied around a small teddy bear gift as well!

Another option is to use these printable tags as buffet cards. Print them out and label with a black pen with all your food items. Prop up at the buffet table for a decorative look.

When we're knee deep into the Fall season, and our calendar is filled to the gills with school activities and events, I pine for a weekend in the pines. Fall time up at our family spot in Tahoe is like a little bit of heaven. The summer tourists have gone, and the skiers have not yet arrived. The lake sparkles in peace, making this a wonderful get-away.

When I made this free printable Bear Country sign, I immediately thought of this spot. This sign would be perfect in a frame in what my mom refers to as the Bear room of their cabin. It's decked out with vintage Smokey the Bear items, a log style bed and a Pendleton blanket hanging from the wall.

Well, as I mentioned, soccer games and walk-a-thons prevail... so instead, how about use this sign for a "Going on a Bear Hunt" party. It would look great on the front door, or to let kids know it's time to start a bear hunt game based on the classic children's story. Enjoy!

My Camp Theme Wedding - Camp Nutenbeier 13 Years Ago Today

Just Married - Heading out of the Forest and Off to Camp Nutenbeier

Lucky 13, that's what I'm calling this anniversary! I'm so lucky to be married to my best friend, confident, right-hand guy, travel companion and partner in crime. We had a non-traditional courtship of being friends for a long time before we got engaged. (Yes, we practically skipped dating.) The engagement was not that much of a surprise though, since all our friends suspected we were already more than just friends!

The true test of the relationship, though, came when I proposed we'd have a camp-themed wedding. I didn't just want the rustic look, and setting (Lake Tahoe, California), but I truly wanted the full camp experience! My husband-to-be put up with a summer of being my production intern cranking out Boy Scout-like badges, camp passports, how to tie know games, lanyards and more. Little did he know that 7 years later, I'd give up the corporate world, and start my party business (in 2007)! I guess our wedding was fore-shadowing. Lucky for him now, I have not employed him again as intern!

Wedding Cake Was Not My Thing: S'mores Fit the Bill Perfectly!

To end the camp, we had a rousing competition of rochambo to determine the winning cabin group and get the prize t-shirts. The s'mores were served to much delight and surprise. I had many guests in shock to learn, that no, I was not serving wedding cake. (I must say, 13 years ago, s'mores were not that popular in the wedding scene!)

Although Camp Nutenbeier seems like a long time ago, I'm still so lucky to be in love with my favorite camp buddy. I hope someday when we are old and gray we can head off to Camp Nutenbeier again and relive our youth!
