If you haven't noticed, it's Mad Hatter Mania out there these days with Tim Burton's rendition of the classic Alice in Wonderland about to be released! I'm excited to see his version! It definitely seems to be a different approach than 1950's Disney version!

Last year, I created this Mad Hatter party kit-- and happily, as the movie's release has been approaching it's become quite popular!

I'm particularly proud of the Personalized banner-- I just love the colors together. The bright lime green, pink, red and blue! I also love how the imagery plays with the different type faces.

So, are you ready to throw a Mad Hatter party? It's a great theme for birthday-- especially with Spring right around the corner. A picnic table set up outside, decorated to the hilt... I can picture it now. Or, how 'bout a Mad Hatter viewing party? Have friends over, a quick, crazy tea party-- then head to the movie theatre!

Here are a few more decorating ideas for your Mad Hatter Party:

• Playing Cards Everywhere: Pick up a few decks of cards, and scatter all over the top of the table. It's easy, and very festive!
• Flowers Everywhere: Jars of flowers, vases of flowers, garlands of flowers-- the more the merrier-- and mixed varieties even better! For this one, you can go several routes: fresh flowers will not only look amazing but smell great too! Silk or fake flowers can be just as appealing-- and from a distance look great (think flower garlands strung along the edges of the room or area...) Lastly, you could go with tissue paper flowers! • Twinkle Lights: Drape a canopy of twinkle lights over the table. This will add glitter and magic to the scene.
• Floating Butterflies: At your local craft store, pick up some decorative butterflies and hang above or around the table area from clear fishing wire. They'll flutter and float as your tea party settles... a great effect.

Halloween Vintage Mask Party

Boo to Everyone in Blogland!!

It's been awhile since I've had a chance to write. You must forgive me... I've been buried in Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the beginnings of holiday fanfare! Yes, I was singing Christmas carols yesterday, as I was starting in on a holiday project, yet I haven't even had time to post about my latest Halloween items... so here it goes!

I'm sure you've seen them around-- those great vintage-style masks of spooky cats, frightful pumpkin heads, owls and more... Well I just had to make my own party kit based on the look!

I hand drew these mask images, scanned them in my trusty computer... and had fun adding colors, textures and more. I love how they turned out.

I also love how each invite has it's own mask (set of 6 invites...) So, when sending out those invites, you can make sure to send the right frightful mask to the right person!

Now this party could really be any type of Halloween party-- it could be a "mask" party-- where all have to come with a mask on, it could be a costume party, or it could just be a good ol'fashioned Halloween party- full of frightful fun and CAAAaaanddy, of course!

Mad About Paper Flowers- Mad Hatter Party Decor

I've been aching to make some paper flowers... I purchased Klutz's Tissue Paper Flower book sometime ago, thinking some cold winter day, my daughter and I could make some flowers and brighten up our space... Well, lo and behold, spring has sprung, the real flowers are out and I have still not made my paper flowers...


So, when I signed up to chair an event at my daughters school, which of course entailed throwing a party, I knew paper flowers would have to be in the mix! The event was our annual Founder's Day celebration-- I decided to go with a mixed up Mad Hatter theme... what a better way to honor all our mixed up, crazy volunteers than a fun, crazy Mad Hatter tea party.


I definitely knew I needed tea pots... and lots of them. And I wanted bright, festive colors. Paper flowers were perfect for that, and a lot less expensive than filling all the pots with real flowers, especially on a PTA budget!!

So, the morning of the party, I sat in my dining room, tissue paper everywhere, and made loads of flowers. I was pretty "stressed" about getting them done, but actually during the process, I relaxed (!) and had a great time! Also, I LOVED how they turned out!

I received many compliments at the party on the flowers... and am now enjoying them in their tea pots on my dining room table. The best part, is I know they will last a long time! :)
